India 2011 -  Himalayas - September 15th thru October 7th, 2012!

See and experience India they way few people ever do. Come with David and Soni to the Himalayas and visit the four most sacred temples in the North of India. Known as the Chardham Yatra (literally 4 place pilgrimage) this is a unique 3 week trip that you will never forget. Each temple is above 10,000 feet, set amidst the majesty of the snow-capped Himalayas.

We begin our trip with 2 days in Delhi, staying in Old Delhi by the ancient Chandni Chowk market, a centuries old center of of shopping filled with narrow streets and merchandise of every description. We will visit the Red Fort and a Jain temple and  an optional side trip to see the Taj Mahal in Agra can be arranged for a few extra dollars.

On Wednesday we leave for Rishikesh in the Himalayan foothills and stay in one night in one the most peaceful towns in the world. The next day we leave for Yamnotri, the temple at the head-waters of the sacred Yamuna river. We drive to Hanumanchatti and from there it is a 13km trek to the temple.

From there we drive to Gangotri, head of the Ganga river; where there will be an optional additional trek to the glacier that is the actual source of the Ganga. Then on to Kedarnath and finally to Badrinath. Kedranath also involves a 14km trek to the actual temple.

We'll stay at small inns and guest-houses; and in some cases in tents at basecamps high in the mountains. You won't believe the stars!

At the end of the trip we will spend 2 days in Rishikesh getting massages and relaxing, seeing more of the sights there.

The land cost will be $2,500, which includes all rooms (double occupancy), most meals, sight-seeing trips and all ground transportation. A $300 non-refundable deposit will be required. You are responsible for your own airfare, details will be provided.
